Ingredients You'll Need
Before we dive into the process, let's gather our ingredients:
- 2 oz Disaronno Amaretto
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 0.5 oz homemade simple syrup
- 2 dashes Fee Brothers Cherry Bitters
- 1 oz blueberry puree (homemade or store-bought, such as Funkin Blueberry)
How to Make Blueberry Puree
If you prefer homemade blueberry puree, it's quite simple to make! Here's how:
- Start with 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries.
- Combine the blueberries with 1/4 cup of water in a blender.
- Blend until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids.
- If you have a sweet tooth, you can always add 1/2 cup of sugar, gently heating this to dissolve being careful not to boil.
- Store the puree in the refrigerator until ready to use (this will keep for up to 3 days).
How to Simple Syrup
If you're short on time you can buy simple syrup or gomme syrup from most supermarkets, or online at great retailers like Master of Malt, however, it's quite simple to make, cheaper, and you can add as much sugar, or as little as you like to make it to your taste! Here's how:
- Simple Syrup is a 1:1 Sugar and Water Syrup, so start with 300g of sugar.
- Combine the Sugar with 300ml of water and heat gently until dissolved.
- Pour into a bottle and leave to cool.
- Store the syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use (this will keep for 2 weeks).
Yes it really is that 'simple'. If you prefer a sweeter drink, try a 2:1 sugar ratio, as we do for some of our drinks.
Step-by-Step Cocktail Recipe
